Lute Olson (Basketball Coach, 1970-73): In four seasons as head coach at LBCC, Olson compiled an impressive 103-22 record. He led the Vikings to three Metropolitan Conference titles as well as a state championship in 1971. In 1970, LBCC finished second at the state tournament. Following LBCC, Olson went on to coach at Long Beach State (1974), the University of Iowa (1975-1983), and the University of Arizona (1984-2007). At Arizona, he led the Wildcats to 23 consecutive NCAA tournaments, five Final Four appearances, and a national championship in 1997. Olson was named Pac-10 Conference Coach of the Year seven times after winning 11 conference titles and was twice honored as the national coach of the year. In 2002, he was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
