Walter "Artie" Boyd (Baseball, 1948-49): Boyd was a third baseman (1948) and shortstop (1949) for LBCC before transferring to the University of Arizona (150-51). Boyd returned to Long Beach to become one of the most successful coaches in Moore League history. He coached at Lakewood (1958-68), Long Beach Poly (1971-73), and Millikan High School (1976-81). In 1962, he led Lakewood to a CIF Championship. He was inducted into the Long Beach Baseball Hall of Fame in 2009.
