Long Beach City College sophomore Omar Torres cruised to an 11th-place finish to lead the Vikings at the 2014 California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Cross Country State Championship on Saturday in Fresno.

Sophomore Omar Torres finished in sixth place to lead the Long Beach City College men’s cross country team at the Southern California Regional Championships on Friday in Van Nuys.

Before the start of the Brubaker Invitational, Long Beach City College sophomore Omar Torres told men’s cross country head coach Julio Jimenez he wasn’t feeling it today. But something must have clicked once he hit the course as Torres used a fast start to take a commanding early lead and never looked back on his way to a first-place finish for the Vikings on Friday.

Long Beach City College freshman Brandon Iraheta ran 21:50.6 to finish in 76th place to lead the Vikings at the Southern California Preview meet on Friday morning at Woodley Park in Van Nuys.

Long Beach City College sophomore Omar Torres ran 20:57.58 to lead the Vikings with a seventh-place finish at the Fresno Invitational on Saturday. As a team, LBCC totaled 306 points to finish in 11th out of 19 squads.
