Bob Seymour (Basketball, 1951 & 1952): Seymour has the distinction of scoring the first point in LBCC’s newly opened gym. As a sophomore in 1952, he helped lead Long Beach to a Metropolitan Conference championship and a state championship appearance. Following LBCC, Seymour played two seasons at Long Beach State University. He was Long Beach State’s leading scorer and team MVP in 1954 and was team captain and leading rebounder on the 1955 squad. Following his playing career, Seymour served as a teacher and coach for 31 years in Long Beach Unified School District junior high schools.
