Myisha Delaney (Soccer, 1997): Delaney was team captain of LBCC’s first state championship team in 1997. She was named state tournament most valuable player, South Coast Conference MVP, as well as team MVP in her only year as a Viking. Delaney played one season at Long Beach State (1998) before transferring to Cal State Dominguez Hills. As a senior in 2000, she was named team captain and MVP on her way to first-team all-conference honors. She was named CSUDH’s Female Student-Athlete of the Year for the 2000-01 season. Delaney returned to LBCC to serve as an assistant coach and helped guide the Vikings to two state titles (2001-02) and the program’s first-ever national championship (2002). She is currently the head women’s soccer and assistant men’s soccer coach at Taft College. Delaney is also a member of Ajax of America, a semi-pro team in the Women’s Professional Soccer League (WPSL).
