Monte Nitzkowski, head coach of the water polo and swimming programs from 1954-89. He led the Vikings to six state water polo championships and was selected five times to the U.S. Olympic coaching staff, serving as head coach in 1972, 1980 and 1984. He coached five Vikings into the Olympics and trained six state swimming champions.
