Greg Townsend, an all-conference, all-state and All-American linebacker for the 1979 and 1980 LBCC football teams, would transfer to Texas Christian University to play for two seasons before signing his first NFL contract in 1983 with the Los Angeles Raiders, where he was selected the league’s Rookie of the Year and played in the Super Bowl. Townsend also participated in the 1992 Pro Bowl.
