Vern Stephens, a member of the
1938 LBCC baseball team, played in 14 major league seasons with the
St. Louis Browns, Boston Red Sox, Chicago White Sox and Baltimore
Orioles. He led the American League three times in runs batted in
and was the 1945 home run leader. Stephens finished in the top 10
for the most valuable player award balloting six times and was
named to eight All-Star teams.
